How do I get my local government to repeal their archaic Sunday liquor laws?
Q. How should I go about this? Start a petition and then go to city hall? I have no doubt I would be able to get enough people to sign a petition. But I'm not sure if petitions would do any good. I've never tried to get my local government to change any of their laws. Any ideas?

A. You can start by calling your reps and any government official you can get a hold of, Explain to them why you think the law is wrong and how and why it affects you. That usual dosnt do much, start a site where you gather like minded people and march, speak, and have signed petitions from your group. The more you bug them the more they have to listen. And the more people you get behind you, they will notice. Now whether that notice is good or bacd, the issue is out there. Be fair and stick to facts!! Good luck, by the way u got my vote lol

A. First, the meaning is lost if you do not interpret the archaic word accurately.Today we may say," It was'nice' of you to do that for me." The evolution of 'nice' makes it positive. Previously, it had negative connotation. In a poem like Tam'O Shanter or Beowulf or Chaucer's Canterbury Tales, some words have no significance to us today; but you need to understand their relevance for the era in which they were written. One poem I wrote placed second in a poetry reading competition. The style and the dialect vocabulary provided a distinctive uniqueness that the judges could not pinpoint; yet they could not ignore it.When you read a poem with archaic words, ask yourself how the word helps the tone, mood, rhythm and theme of the poem.Often, when… [cont.]

A. Which ones were you thinking of? Not enough information! The UK does not have a written constitution and has come about for various reasons relating to law and tradition. It's when people try and tinker with it that serious problems arise.
